GonnaLand Terms of Service
1. Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Betterself.ai LLC ("Betterself", "we"). By using the GonnaLand app or gonnaland.com, you agree to them; if you do not agree, do not use GonnaLand. The advisory acknowledgment shown in the app on first launch supplements — and in the cockpit, restates — the aviation terms below.
2. The service
GonnaLand is an advisory situational-awareness and training aid for general aviation landings. It estimates height above the runway from your device's camera and sensors, announces advisory callouts, and records each approach so you can review it on the ground. GonnaLand is currently offered as a pre-release beta; features may change, break, or be withdrawn at any time.
3. Aviation disclaimer — read this part twice
- Not certified equipment. GonnaLand is not a radar altimeter, GPWS/TAWS, or VGSI, and is not a substitute for any equipment required by regulation — nor for looking outside. Never rely on it for navigation.
- Not a basis for descent. Descent below any DA/DH or MDA requires the visual references of 14 CFR 91.175(c), seen by you out the window. GonnaLand does not identify those references and must never be used as a basis for descending below minimums.
- Pilot in command. You, the pilot in command, retain full responsibility for the safe conduct of the flight under 14 CFR 91.3. Use of GonnaLand is at your sole risk.
- Accuracy is not guaranteed and degrades in poor visibility, on unmarked runways, and during the flare. Callouts and displayed guidance are advisory estimates, not measurements you may rely on.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. Any flight you conduct with GonnaLand aboard must comply with all applicable regulations and with the aircraft's operating limitations; GonnaLand grants no operational capability or authorization of any kind.
5. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the GonnaLand app for your own flying and training. You may not copy, resell, or redistribute the service; reverse-engineer the app or the models inside it except where the law permits; or use the service to build a competing product.
6. Your account
A GonnaLand account is required to use the app, and is created by signing in with Apple or Google, so we never handle a password. You are responsible for keeping access to that sign-in secure, and for the activity that occurs under your account. Your GonnaLand account is separate from accounts for our other products.
You may delete your account at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes the account and the personal information in it, and turns sharing off. It does not withdraw the license in section 7 for recordings you have already shared; those remain in our dataset in a form no longer linked to you or to any account. If you want previously shared recordings removed as well, ask us (hello@betterself.ai) before deleting your account — afterwards we can no longer identify which recordings were yours.
7. Your recordings and the sharing program
You own the recordings GonnaLand makes on your device. While the sharing program is enabled — it is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings → Sharing — you grant Betterself a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, perpetual and irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, and create derivative works from the recordings and metadata you share, in order to operate and improve GonnaLand — including training, testing, and fine-tuning the machine-learning models that power it, and retaining them in our datasets for as long as they remain useful for that purpose. This covers approach recordings and any traffic-related captures — brief camera stills the app may take when a connected ADS-B receiver reports nearby aircraft, together with the associated traffic and sensor data — which ride under the same sharing switch. This license survives termination of these terms and deletion of your account, because a model cannot be un-trained and a dataset that shrinks unpredictably cannot be used to evaluate safety-relevant software. Turning sharing off stops future uploads immediately, and you may request deletion of previously shared recordings as described in section 6 and the privacy policy. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share what you upload (for example, with respect to other occupants of the aircraft).
8. Public links
A public link is separate from the sharing program in section 7, and the two are governed by different licenses. Approaches are private by default. A public link is created only when you choose to create one for a specific approach, and anyone who has the link can watch that approach without signing in.
The license you grant for public display is limited and terminable. When you create a public link you grant Betterself a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, and publicly display that approach and its associated metadata for the purpose of operating the public link. This license ends when you revoke the link, when you delete your account, or when we disable the link — unlike the sharing license in section 7, it is neither perpetual nor irrevocable. Revoking a link does not affect the separate section 7 license for recordings you have shared with the sharing program, and turning off the sharing program does not revoke your public links.
Revocation is immediate, with one bounded exception you should know about. Revoking a link stops the page working and stops us issuing any new access to the media right away. A media address that was already issued to a viewer's browser remains usable until it expires, which is up to six hours. If you need something taken down faster than that, contact us at hello@betterself.ai.
You represent that you have the right to publish what you publish. Creating a public link is an act of publication. You confirm that you have the right to make the recording public, including with respect to any other occupants of the aircraft, and that doing so does not breach an agreement with an aircraft owner, operator, flight school, or employer. The video has no audio track, but the flight path, airport, runway, date and time are all visible to anyone with the link.
Display names. A public link shows a display name you choose. It is globally unique, it is public, and because it is the same on every approach you publish, it links your public approaches to one another. Do not choose a name that impersonates another person or organization, implies an official or governmental role, infringes a trademark, or is obscene or abusive. We may reclaim or change a name that breaks this, and we reserve names that could be mistaken for GonnaLand or Betterself.
We may disable a link. We may disable any public link, at our discretion and without notice, if we believe it breaks these terms, is unlawful, or is the subject of a credible complaint — and we may disable the public link feature generally, for example to deal with abuse or an unexpected cost. Disabling a link does not delete the underlying recording, and does not by itself terminate your account. To report a public link, write to hello@betterself.ai with the link.
9. Acceptable use
- Do not use GonnaLand for navigation, as a basis for descent below minimums, or in any way that violates the aviation disclaimer above.
- Do not upload content you lack the rights to share, and do not submit false or misleading data.
- Do not probe, disable, or circumvent the app's or our services' security, quotas, or upload gating.
- Do not use the service in violation of any law or regulation.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
GonnaLand is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Betterself.ai LLC and its officers, employees, and suppliers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, aircraft damage, property damage, personal injury, or death, arising from or related to your use of or inability to use GonnaLand.
Our aggregate liability for all claims relating to the service shall not exceed the amounts you paid us for GonnaLand in the twelve months preceding the claim.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Betterself.ai LLC from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of GonnaLand, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any law or regulation in connection with a flight on which GonnaLand was used.
13. Termination
You may stop using GonnaLand at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to the service (including the beta and the sharing program) at our discretion, including for violations of these terms. Sections 3, 6, and 7–11 survive termination.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the current version always lives at this address with its effective date. Material changes will be announced in the app or on this site before they take effect. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
